AN189 - Trachea collapse, Tracheitis (inflammation infection), Geriatric onset Laryngeal Paralysis, Esophagus stomach issues e.g. Megaesophagus, Gastroesophageal reflux, Laryngeal Paralysis, GOLPP (Geriatric Onset Laryngeal Paralysis Polyneuropathy)

Holistic Animal Remedies (HAMPL)

  • Laryngeal Paralysis, muscle atrophy, spasms, stricture
  • Reflux collapsed trachea, larynx, coughing, megaesophagus
  • Paralysis of the esophagus or trachea & trachea Stenosis.
  • Equine Roarer, muffled barking, inflammations, laryngitis.
Set of 2
1. HAMPL Trachi 189-1  50ml (1.7oz)
2. HAMPL Herbal Lung 112-3  50ml (1.7oz)

  • 1. Tracheitis - is an inflammation or infection of the trachea or windpipe.
Laryngitis is an infection or inflammation of the larynx (the tissue and cartilage that close off the uppermost part of the trachea during swallowing to prevent choking). Infection or inflammation of other parts of the respiratory tract can accompany these two diseases. There are numerous causes including bacterial, viral or parasite infections; inhalation of allergens (allergy-causing particles) or irritants; tracheal injury or irritation and cancer.   * If this is your dog or cat, also use in conjunction with 1. HAMPL Trachi Aid 189-1 drops the HAMPL Infection Fighter 71 50ml (herbal antibiotic) drops and/or  2. HAMPL Herbal Lung 112-3 50ml

    2. Laryngeal paralysis, or reflux and any type of paralysis of the esophagus or tracheitis is not fully understood. These types of spams can cause stricture type of collapsing in the canines species.  e.g.  Laryngeal Paralysis in Dogs | GOLPP Geriatric Onset Laryngeal Paralysis Polyneuropathy. Clinical signs of laryngeal paralysis are primarily a result of a progressive failure of the laryngeal muscles. Dogs with laryngeal paralysis are noisy when breathing in, particularly when panting.   In early stages of the disease, owners may easily miss the abnormal sounds. As the disease progresses, the dog may fatigue easily, develop a bark change, and cough/gag when eating and drinking. Signs may progress for months to years before becoming a clinical problem for the dog.

Severe upper airway obstruction can occur during strenuous exercise or in heat and humidity, which results in respiratory distress and collapse. The symptoms can snowball as increased breathing rates and panting cause the laryngeal folds to become swollen and inflamed and worsen airway obstruction.

Dogs that have more generalized signs (degenerative polyneuropathy) may present with difficulty swallowing, regurgitation, and hind end weakness.   *See HAMPL Hind leg weakness, Magnesium drops in conjunction with HAMPL Trachi 189-1 drops.    * For weakness paralysis   1. HAMPL Brain N Nerve 94-1  30ml (1oz)   with  2. HAMPL Paralysis Gone 94-2 30ml (1oz) (which is under the Wobblers condition Set)

    3.  Muscular - weakness, muscle spasms (tetany), tics, muscle cramps, hyperactive reflexes, Impaired muscle coordination (ataxia), tremors, Involuntary eye movements and vertigo, difficulty swallowing, reflux (called GERD - Gastroesophageal reflux disease). See no 4 below this.

    4.  GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) is seen in both dogs and cats. (also known as reflux esophagitis, or acid reflux). It is a condition in which there is an uncontrolled backflow of gastric or intestinal fluids into the esophagus, which is the tube that connects the throat to the stomach.  Gastrointestinal fluids – which include stomach acid, pepsin, bile, and other components – can damage the mucosal lining of the esophagus and cause inflammation, a condition called esophagitis. Younger animals with congenital (present at birth) Hiatal hernias are at increased risk.

    5.  Megaesophagus is a generalized enlargement of the esophagus -- a muscular tube connecting the throat to the stomach -- with a decreased to absent motility.   Esophageal motility is required for moving food and liquid down to the stomach.  Megaesophagus is seen more often in dogs as compared to cats.
If not secondary to another disorder in adult animals, it is called "idiopathic" (cause unknown). Megaesophagus can be secondary to other diseases such as Myasthenia Gravis, Thyroid, Addison's and other Neurological disorders.
Regurgitation of water, mucous or food. (Regurgitation is throwing up without any warning; "vomiting" is associated with retching.)
Loss of appetite or refusal to eat.
    Sudden weight loss.
Swallowing difficulty, exaggerated and/or frequent swallowing.
They will also try to clear their throat frequently with a "hacking" sound.
    Sour and/or foul-smelling breath.
Many canines may be misdiagnosed with a gastrointestinal problem.
Aspiration pneumonia is a frequent complication.

    Feeding Management:
Your canine needs to be placed in a vertical feeding position immediately to avoid starvation and/or aspiration pneumonia. (Note: Not an "elevated bowl." Elevating the bowl does not place the esophagus in the proper orientation so that gravity will work.) Vertical feeding can be accomplished with the Bailey Chair. The canine must remain in the chair for 20-30 minutes post feeding to allow gravity to work. Food is fed either in a milkshake consistency or in "meatballs" works best. (If using the meatball method, they must be swallowed whole.) Each dog is different and experimentation with food consistency is required.  Multiple feedings, 3-4 meals per day, is also suggested.
Apply the homeopathic Trachi Aid 189-1 drops before each meal or fluid drink and as well as afterward (drop on the body)
Fluids must be consumed in the vertical position as well.

Naturopathic Advice for GERD (regurgitation undigested food):

    1.  Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is one of the most effective home remedies for acid reflux. It aids digestion and helps balance acid production in the stomach.
Cat:   add 3 drops in 1/4 cup of water. Add 1 teaspoon to every meal given.
Toy dog: 10 drops in 1/4 cup of water, add 1 tablespoon to every meal. Small dog: 20 drops (1 teaspoon) in 1/4 cup of water, add 1 tablespoon to every meal.
Med-Large dog:   2 teaspoons in 1 cup of water, add 2 tablespoons to every meal. If this is not strong enough, not reducing stomach acid, add some more drops into the water.

    2.   BiCarb Soda powder (not baking powder), dissolve 1/4 teaspoon in 1 cup of water.
Cat: add a pinch to into 1/4 cup of water, then oral syringe 0.5ml side of mouth after meals.
Toy dog: add a pinch drops in 1/4 cup of water, then oral syringe 0.5ml side of mouth after meals.
Small dog: 1/4 teaspoon in 1/4 cup of water, then oral syringe 1ml side of mouth after meals.
Med-Large dog: 1/2 teaspoon in a 1/4 cup of water, then oral syringe side of mouth after meals. Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, is a natural antacid that provides quick relief from heartburn, the most common symptom of acid reflux. Note: Prolonged ingestion of baking soda is not recommended. Use it off and on, when needed. Initially do it daily for 4 days.

Other symptoms in pets can be: ... nerve pain, laryngeal and tongue paralysis, paralysis of the tongue, tongue, pharynx and face paralysis, spasmodic attacks - larynx and trachea glands, influence tongue, swallowing and saliva, loss of appetite, painful sore throat, difficulty swallowing, lock jaw, oppressed respiration, larynx very painful, tongue disorder, nose, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs, pneumonia, bronchiectasis, lung disorder, cough, sore throat, respiratory failure, spasms of esophagus, constriction of throat, goiter- thyroid imbalance, goiter, constriction in throat, thyroid and laryngeal disorder.

    3. Probiotic
Nexabiotic Capsules  (by Bioprosper Labs)  The specific strains in of probiotics that are listed in the "Nexabiotic" contain "specific kidney supportive strains" such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, Casei and plantarum, Streptococcus thermophilus, and Bifobacterium longum can also be extremely beneficial. These strains, which support healthy urea metabolism.
PET DOSAGE:  Add a pinch in meals for cats, toy dog, and other small animals.  Half powder from the capsule for small to med canines and a full cap of powder for large canines.

    Mineral and Vitamins
Support MANY if not all of the above symptoms are because there is a "magnesium deficiency": (80% of humans & albeit pets and farm animals have similar deficient). Please also consider adding this mineral to your daily healing health regime. e.g. Magnesium Glycinate Powder or ReMag Magnesium Liquid. Diluting some powder in water and add to morning meal and repeat in evening meal.   Or if using ReMag Magnesium liquid add several drops to meals twice a day. Some animals are also needing the B6, for (nervous system), so add some organic un sulfured black strap molasses 1/4 teaspoon or a Vitamin B6 - (P5P) (activated one) capsule (powder from cap) which will assist the nervous system. E.g. I would use one caps (powder from a capsule) or 1/2 teaspoon of molasses for a small to med size dog, adding this to daily meals. Three times a day for 4 months.

    Older animals sometimes need

HAMPL Respiratory 189-2 formula drops, if symptoms do not change completely, look at the using a natural support formula for the heart.   Example - Congestive Heart failure conditions HAMPL HealthyHeart 022-1 drops for old age heart support. However, often symptoms can greatly improve by adding minerals (magnesium) to the daily diet. Canines who have been de-barked, or may have laryngitis (a muffled - hoarse type of barking, gulping a lot etc). Other dry coughs are associated with tonsillitis or tracheobronchitis, such as the familiar kennel cough. Harsh noises are more often associated with airway problems than with lung or cardiac problems.

Refer to: HAMPL CoughCongest 129 (gagging type vomiting cough, mucous congestion), HAMPL CoughDry 044 (a kennel cough or virus), HAMPL Healthy Heart 022-1 (panting on exercise, lethargic, general old age), HAMPL Liver Detox 36 formula (can be associated with tracheal collapsing). The above remedies or other chosen ones can be used in conjunction the HAMPLTrachi 189-1 formula.

Dogs with Bacterial Pneumonia (lung coughing)
you will usually have a soft, productive cough that reflects the presence of mucus and purulent material within the airways. Refer to: HAMPL Pneumonia Set,  Equine Equine Roarer or Trachea collapse, you will need the HAMPL Trachi 189-1 drops will help restore conditions plus the HAMPL Scar Tissue formula - if surgery or injury to the esophagus.

NOTE: If injury or surgery to the esophagus - please contact us for further advice and guidance for optimum fast healing. if needed. eg. An all liquid diet is suggested while starting off initially while healing. If needing extra advice and help please contact us for assistance.

There was a significant hepatic dysfunction in the majority of dogs with a tracheal collapse. Liver function should be routinely assessed in dogs with the severe respiratory disease. If your dog has both conditions please also see the homeopathic formula called HAMPL Liver 36 formula drops.

Contains herbal liquid extract blend:  Elderflowers, Usnea Barb, Goldenseal, Red Clover, Cryptolepis, Mullein, Isatis Root, Osho Root, Coltsfoot, Licorice Root.

    Medicinal Herbal Actions
Isatis Root herb- is one of the most effective TCM herbs used as an herbal antibiotic, antiseptic and anti-viral.  TCM doctors use it whenever there are signs of fever or toxic heat from a viral illness, blood poisoning, leukemia, hepatitis, meningitis, scarlet fever, sinus infections, laryngitis, tonsillitis, mumps, and other similar ailments.  It is an effective alternative to Western prescription antibiotics in some cases.  Although the root is used most commonly, the leaves are useful as well.  TCM doctors say Isatis leaves "go to the upper part of the body" more than the root, so leaves are used for upper respiratory infections along with the root.
    Usnea Barb
     - antibiotic, antifungal, antiparasitic, immuno-stimulating, immunoregulator, demulcent, anti-tumor, expectorant, a muscle relaxant. This common lichen is antibacterial and antifungal.  A powerful antibiotic, usnea is used to treat urinary tract infections, strep and staph infections, respiratory and sinus infections as well as fungal infections like yeast and vaginosis.  Usnea is best used as a tincture. Usnea’s medicinal use dates back to ancient China when it was used to treat the infection. It is still used for that purpose today. In addition, unlike many antibiotics, Usnea does not kill off friendly intestinal flora. Its main function is for the treatment of bacterial infections, bronchitis, candida, colds, cough, diarrhea, flu, giardia, gonorrhea, infection, lupus, pleurisy, pneumonia, sinus infection, staph infection, strep throat, tuberculosis, and urethritis.  So a wonderful antibiotic, antifungal, antiparasitic, immuno-stimulating, immunoregulator, demulcent, anti-tumor, expectorant, a muscle relaxant.
(Sambucus nigra) herb - elderberry is used as a remedy for viral infections like the flu and common cold. Elder stimulates the circulation, causing sweating, effectively cleansing the body. Has traditionally been used to relieve fever, symptoms of respiratory catarrh and mucous congestion. Immune system boost, coughs, colds, flu, bacterial infections, viral infections, tonsillitis antioxidant, improve vision, boost the immune system, and tonsillitis.
     - acts as an expectorant, assisting in breaking up congestion in the lungs and airways, and reduces inflammation, says New Mexico State University. The University adds that the herb soothes irritating coughing and other respiratory conditions related to pneumonia, such as asthma. Mycoplasma pneumonia is especially prevalent in children and young adults, being highly contagious and transmitted through coughing and sneezing. Although there may not be a cure for this strain of pneumonia, the herb mullein may bring relief from many symptoms.
Goldenseal - Goldenseal has been shown in the research to be both antibiotic and antiviral. Excellent results for treating Pneumonia conditions. It is possible that berberine (a major component of goldenseal) also kills a wide range of other types of germs in test tubes, such as those that cause candida (yeast) infections and parasites such as tapeworms and Giardia. Berberine may also activate white blood cells, making them better at fighting infection and strengthening the immune system.
    Osho Root
      - viral pneumonia, mucus and congestion problems, and it is a wonder that the benefits of Osha root tinctures are not more well-known. The herb can help to clear mucus from the sinuses and lungs, thereby helping to relieve congestion and make breathing much easier.
    Red clover
     - has metabolic diuretic (stimulates the removal of waste and water from the kidneys), lymphatic (stimulates lymph movement) and expectorant (supports the elimination of mucus from the lungs) properties. Because of these characteristics, red clover has been described as a 'blood purifier'.
Coltsfoot  - for Cough And Bronchial Problems. Coltsfoot has been traditionally used as a treatment for colds, coughs and other bronchial problems. Coltsfoot is used to treat dry coughs, whooping coughs, emphysema, asthma, laryngitis, bronchitis and even nasal congestion.  Coltsfoot is an Anti-Inflammatory. Coltsfoot contains mucilage, bitter glucosides, and tannins, substances that have anti-inflammatory actions.
Licorice Root  -  Is effective for treating "Stomatitis" tongue ulcers and "Cytomegalovirus"  Licorice is useful for many ailments including asthma, athlete's foot, baldness, body odor, bursitis, canker sores, chronic fatigue, depression, colds and flu, coughs, dandruff, emphysema, gingivitis and tooth decay, gout, heartburn, HIV, viral infections, fungal infections, ulcers, liver problems, Lyme disease, menopause, psoriasis, shingles, sore throat, tendinitis, tuberculosis, ulcers, yeast infections, prostate enlargement and arthritis.  Licorice Root - also appears to enhance immunity by boosting levels of interferon, a key immune system chemical that fights off attacking viruses. It also contains powerful antioxidants as well as certain phytoestrogens that can perform some of the functions of the body's natural estrogens; very helpful during the menopause.  Glycyrrhizinic acid also seems to stop the growth of many bacteria and of viruses such as influenza A. In the respiratory system it has a similarly soothing and healing action, reducing irritation and inflammation and has an expectorant effect, useful in irritating coughs, asthma and chest infections. It has an aspirin-like action and is helpful in relieving fevers and soothing pain such as headaches. Its anti-allergenic effect is very useful for hay fever, allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis and bronchial asthma.

  •  General Dosing and Instructions Guide

For all species, size, and ages.

    (a) “HOMEOPATHICS”are sold in either a clear liquid or tiny white pills or granules – both have no odour or taste)

Easy “application dosing” for all species:

    • Homeopathic DROPS (clear liquid) DRIP or APPLY 3 to 4 drops, pat into fur/skin with bottom of bottle. i.e. back of shoulder blades (not orally) which is regarded as one dose for all size species and ages. Note: Liquid homeopathics are more suited for feline, toy dog, fish, birds and other small species
    • Homeopathic PILLS (white pills) crush a pill (or whole) and add to gum/pouch of mouth to dissolve in saliva. Does not need to swallow it.
    • Homeopathic GRANULES (white grain) and a small light sprinkle or a pinch to meals, or stir into water trough or bowl.
Casual repeat dosing can add to water bowl or feed dish or water trough for wildlife or farm animals.

Refer to Bottle Label for suggested frequencies repeat dosing needed per day.
the rule is one must “repeat a dose” more frequently with less time in between each application dose, which is more important than the amount given each time. Repeat application will provide

faster action.

    (b) “HERBAL MEDICINES ” (brown liquid – strong odour & tasting)
”Application dosing” for all species and sizes:
Canine, equine, cow, sheep, goat : add herbal drops (as recommended on bottle label) to some (unsweetened apple sauce or apple juice) for canines and oral syringe side of mouth. Can add other vitamins (crushed) Alkaline green powders etc. to mix.

Refer to Bottle Label for amount of drops per species size. e.g 60 drops = 1 teaspoon

What I do for example: If I was needing to give herb treatments and/or vitamin supplements to feline or toy dog or other small animals – I add this herbal formula to a small bowl add some boiled water (about a teaspoon) to it so to dissolve the alcohol in it, let cool, then add what vitamins If needed (powder or crushed tab – a pinch) mixed in another 50ml of water, and oral syringe once a day or twice a day …smear on a little “vegemite paste” (if cannot get Vegemite in your country, try fresh pate or slippery elm powder added can help mask the taste) around and on tip of oral syringe, as felines seem to real like the taste of this paste, but not too much as it is quite a strong taste)

    (c)“NUTRITIONAL Mix
Giving vitamins and supplements (tablets or powders) Note: always crush tablet before adding to food or liquid mix.
Felines or small animals: make up 1 cup of mixture, adding approx. a pinch of some type of Green powder (alkaline powder) or Chlorella powder (cleansing of toxins) or 1/4 Teaspoons of Slippery elm powder (to mask the taste) with 1 teaspoon of herbs if you are having to also give herbal medicines (i.e. brown liquid)
Med to large animals: add twice to three times the amount.

DOSING: Feline or small animal: using an oral syringe draw up 1ml and gently small sips. Or add a teaspoon to meals if they don’t mind eating it with meals (mix well into food) Do not put in Fridge. Room temp is best as too cold is dislike by felines.
DOSING: Canine, equine, cow, sheep, goat: try mixing well into food and hand piece before feeding main meals. Or dose same as suggested for felines, but add three times as much herbal medicines and vitamins to 1/2 cup of water or (unsweetened) apple sauce or apple juice.

What I do for example: If i was needing to give herb treatments and/or vitamin supplements to feline or toy dog or other small animals – I add this herbal formula to 1/2 cup of boiled hot water to it so to dissolve the alcohol in it, let cool, then add what vitamins If needed (powder or crushed tab – a pinch) mixed in another 50ml of water, and oral syringe once a day or twice a day …. smear on a little “vegemite paste” (if cannot get Vegemite in your country, try fresh pate or slippery elm powder added can help mask the taste) around and on tip of oral syringe, as felines seem to real like the taste of this paste, but not too much as it is quite a strong taste)

    Slippery Elm Powder
If needing to add or use Slippery Elm powder

FOR CONDITIONS like …. diarrhea, stomach ulcers, or sore inflamed mouth or mouth ulcers, constipation, or IBS (i.e. colitis), plus it can also been given as a liquid meal given orally via syringe as it is highly nutritional (oral liquid feeding) for convalescing during illness when not eating solids.

CONVALESCING ..can been given as a liquid meal given orally via syringe as it is highly nutritional (oral liquid feeding) for convalescing during illness when not eating solids or not eating very well.
~ Add a small amount of powder to the mix to enough to make a runny liquid mix, if you put too much of the powder it will become thick and gluggy, if this happens you will need to add more liquid to it. Can add crushed vitamins and herbal medicines to this as well. OPTIONS: Oral dose in syringe or add to meals three times a day or more to maintain normal health again, then can stop or reduce frequencies.
